M3A1 37mm Anti-Tank Gun Mounting Drawings

Gun was mounted forward of the forward storage compartment; just behind the forward cleat. The base was next to the hatch retainer latch and close to the forward cleat.

First two pictures show the gun mounting and 3 and 4 showing gun in action.

The following drawing furnished by Rick Pearson to show the placement of the 37mm gun mounting in relation to the other elements of the bow details. In the drawing, the life raft has been omitted for clarity.

The following drawing were drawn by Rick Pearson to show how the mounting base and supporting legs were made. Base was made from a sheet metal and the 4 legs from flat iron strips. The gun mounting deleted the shield and legs and only used the swivel mount welded to the support legs.

First drawing is a rough sketch showing the gun on the mounting base.

The second drawing shows how the gun mounting was assembled.
